Steady Ride 9 (Sunday 27 Sept. 2015), led by Stuart Cook

Septembers Steady ride left Chester Le Street on fresh & sunny morning, with the aim of keeping it at a nice steady pace on mostly quiet country roads.

The first part of the ride took us towards Pelton, then up Bluehouse bank through Holmside & on to Burnhope for a quick photo opportunity at the top of Peth bank.   After leaving Burnhope we headed over to Maiden Law bank followed by a quick descent down Gorecock Lane to bring us onto the Main Lanchester to Consett Road.

After a brief spell on the A691 & Stockerley Road passing Hurbuck we turned onto the quiet roads of Knitsley. A couple of quick descents and short sharp climbs later we came out at the top of Rowley where we joined the C2C and followed the trail to Hownsgill Tea Rooms for our mid ride Cafe stop.

After a quick coffee stop it was back onto the quiet roads out of Knitsley joining Newbiggin Lane to take us Lanchester where we once again picked up the Lanchester Valley Trail leaving at Langley Park & on to Witton Gilbert with a quick climb up Norburn lane, turning right at the top to head back to Chester Le Street over Waldridge Fell.

We covered approximately 35 miles averaging around 13 mph.

It was great to see one or two new faces out today along with the regulars, it was nice to meet and chat with you Alan and Haben many thanks for coming along, hope to see you at the next steady ride in October if not before.
